You want to check and be sure there are no known issues that is beyond your average wear and tear. Repairs can tend to become quite costly, so you want to avoid them if at all possible.
You also want to be sure that the used car has been maintained well. This will avoid any unnecessary future repairs. There is generally paperwork attached to the vehicle with a list of the maintenance that has been performed on the vehicle from previous owners. If it's a short list, you probably should continue looking to avoid any possibly costly repairs from lack of upkeep and maintenance from the previous owners.
Provided you check the vehicle for any noticeable issues by looking at it and taking it for a test drive as well as check the maintenance report attached to the vehicle, you should be able to avoid purchasing a lemon. So, do your research and don't settle for less.
